So started a new job this week. Exciting times and can see the future hours of work racking up! It has also meant a fair bit of alcohol. Drank Saturday night (good win at hockey) Monday and Wednesday and realistically tomorrow as well. However I have managed to get runs in Sunday Tuesday and today in total around 22 miles.
I am loving the interval training. Do it on my 8 mile run around Hyde park. 15 mins jog the 2 mins flat out followed by 3 mins jog. Repeat 8 times.
Got round in 59 and 58 mins roughly on 2 runs this week. Really helping the speed and feel as though getting a decent workout.
Long run Sunday me thinks which means whatever happens in hockey no drinking. I am in fact cooking dinner for the other half so cheers to a good weekend
All the best and good running!
So new month and same issues. Fat around my gut and not quick enough.
Thinking of getting some supplements and protein powder in a renewed effort to up training
Had a good week so far. Hockey saturday 13.75 miles on Sunday. Gym Monday 8 miles Tuesday and gym Wednesday. Aim is another tempo run tonight and then gym Friday morning.
Friday is my last day in my current job before starting a new job on Monday. The new job is going to be intense and I just hope that I can keep training as I have done so far!
Hope you are all still training hard!! Keep going
So my injury has not been as bad as first thought. I managed gym on Thursday, yoga on Friday, 5km run and hockey match on Saturday. Sunday was my birthday so had a day off but ended up walking near 6 miles around London from sloane square all the way down to Fulham and then back up through Kensington home.
Yesterday I managed to gym and get hockey training done but due to a hangover from birthday drinks the sessions weren’t great!!
Bug game tonight though as the Ipswich bandwagon rolls on to wembley . . . I hope!!
Oh no. Sore heel/Achilles not sure which. Will rest. Think it’s me pushing myself to hard again.
Tough hockey game on Saturday, 11.5 miles on sunday and then tough training last night. Stupid. Happens all the time.
Tonight is my first night off for 2 weeks and it sucks. Still bit of silent witness should help numb the pain!!
Done for the first time in 3 months. Packed class but one of 5 blokes!! It is brilliant for you and especially good if you are doing a lot of running.
I am rubbish at it but means I have more room for improvement. Give it a go if you have the opportunity. Going to have to give Bikram yoga a moss for a while until I get better!!
So managed to get 8 miles in yesterday evening and a good gym session this evening.
Fair play to all the people on their new year’s resolution of going to the gym they have signed up to for silly money but . . . I am also paying silly money and would like some room to move and do weights. Virgin Active Hammersmith take note!
I am now fully signed up to janathon fully now and am logging all my runs. Such a good feeling when you finish your run log it and now I have blogged it!
Back to Yoga tomorrow night before big game on saturday against Luton Town. Should be fit enough for it with all the training which has been done!
In other news I have tickets to the Tractor Boys second leg at Arsenal. Taking the other half for the first time. What a result last night!! 1-0 to the Tractor boys . . . Nite
So Sunday I managed to train in the gym with 1k on the cross trainer and then 2.45k on the treadmill. In exciting news though the gym now has fancy bikes where there is a picture of the riding on the screen and you can race each other. Need to get on them!!
In bad news though alcohol was consumed on both Saturday and Sunday. Firstly as we met friends on Saturday and then due to the misery of town being stuffed 7-0 by Chelsea. First game of the season I have been to as well!!
Anyway the new rules are drinking one day a week with the week running from Sunday to Saturday.
I managed to do hockey training last night and get a 7.71mile run in this morning before work. Hyde park was very quiet and cold this morning!
Need to get updating janathon which is tonights task. Falling behind and only the second week!!
So the good things. I have managed 34 miles this week which is a good start but a fair number of the miles were slow. Also been to the gym but no yoga yet. I would love to try Bikram yoga but need to find somewhere. In fact that is now this weeks task.
The bad thing is that I have not run everyday this week so the start of the 100 day challenge is going to be delayed. As with all goals I am optimistic/unrealistic. I think giving myself a full month training and then starting the challenge will allow my legs to get used to the workload.
However a whole week of no alcohol is brilliant as I find this makes a massive difference to my weight.
Weigh in day tomorrow and i am hopeful.
The best thing of the week though . . . Smashing the Aussies in the cricket and winning the Ashes! Well done the boys!!
So weighed myself on Sunday and it’s not pretty. 90.6kgs!!
So far so good on the running front. 8 miles done Sunday. 5k done in the gym on Monday and then 10 miles done yesterday.
Getting my eating back in order after the Christmas break but I think that is next weeks main aim once I start work again.
For now going to watch the Ashes and then another gym day.
On another note got round to watching Kick Ass yesterday. Quality film!!
Right. 1 day has been done with no booze. Time to go for a run now. Day 1 of the 100 day challenge. The aim? To shift the horrible beer belly that I own and to improve my marathon time from 4hrs 1min to less than 3hrs 30min.
First job however is to weigh myself. Oh joy!
